Does Donald Trump Dare 'Shut Up' and Run for President?

Donald Trump
Sometimes all it takes is America's favorite Dad opening his mouth to feel like sanity has been restored. Bill Cosby is one of those guys you don't hear from much, but when he talks, you better listen up. And Donald Trump would be wise to jump on the bandwagon.

The presidential candidate (OK, so he says he hasn't made that decision yet, but let's be honest here, no one believes that malarkey) got a tongue lashing from old Doc Huxtable this morning on the Today show. The Donald, says Cosby, is "full of it." Hold your applause, ladies and gents. It gets better.

Tired of the same old "will he run or won't he run" trope, Cosby says it's time Trump make up his mind: "You run or shut up." FINALLY! Someone said it!

Because the problem isn't whether Trump runs or not. Those of us who think he's a joke will simply vote against him. It's how he's spending his days essentially campaigning, while hiding behind the law that allows him to keep his Celebrity Apprentice on the air until his announcement. If he were to declare it now, legally, the show would be yanked in order to provide for fairness in airtime of candidates on the airwaves. It would also open him to regular candidate-on-candidate arguments and make the American public feel LESS like he's just playing games with us to up interest in his brand, his TV show, etc.

Oh, he says he's not campaigning. But every 5 minutes, there he is, making wild assertions about President Obama's birth certificate, singing the praises of the Tea Party, and essentially doing everything he can to distance himself from his history of donating more to Democratic politicians. There's no question he has a history of social liberalism to undo if he's going to successfully mount a conservative campaign. But if he wants to do so and do so honorably, it's time to heed the advice of Mr. Cosby.

Mr. Trump, declare yourself a candidate for president, and let the chips fall where they may. None of this, "weeeeeeell, I'm just saying this, no need to get huffy" business. Show us you want more than money, you want a crack at the presidency for the country's sake. Let your opponents have at it all, and give us the chance to vote against you. Unless you're really just "full of it"?

Is Trump gaining any fans with this hemming and hawing? Does it make you more or less likely to vote for him?
