You've probably heard it said that "kids are cruel." And to look at the statistics of autistic teenagers who are bullied, it's true. Nearly half of kids on the spectrum are victims of the mean kids. HALF! It's a statistic that's scary for parents of autistic kids. But if you don't have a kid on the spectrum, you might just glance right over it. And that's exactly the problem. You, me, all the parents of kids who are neurotypical who don't take this whole "autistic kids getting bullied" thing seriously are the problem. Our kids should know better. And if they don't, why the heck not?![]()
