Montoya Crash
You've got to give Juan Pablo Montoya a little credit. The NASCAR driver shut down the already delayed Daytona 500 last night with a crash and huge fire. But when it comes to the sport, watching video of the Target car hurtle into the back of a jet dryer truck was pretty much the best you can get.

Oh, come on, don't tell me you don't watch racing for the crashes. I've lived in the South, worked across the street from the dealership of driver Elliott Sadler's daddy's car dealership in fact, and even the most hardcore fans told me they LOVED them some crashing. And Montoya's was the very best of the best.

Why? OK, first and foremost, because no one was hurt. Montoya walked away, the driver of the truck walked away -- that's the best outcome of a crash in any situation (off a race-track or on). My husband was watching the whole thing go down on his laptop, and when he changed the channel on our TV so I could see it too, I couldn't stop biting my nails until I heard that everyone was safe and sound.

That let me enjoy the fire. And ooooh what a fire it was! Just check it out:

Alright, I'll say it. That? Was awesome! Because it satisfied the fans and the non-fans (aka the people who ONLY watch NASCAR for the crashes) alike, with the added benefit of teaching us something. Did you know those trucks are actually filled with jet fuel? That was a first for me ... and it made for quite the spectacular explosion. See what I mean about being the best of the best?

Admit it: do you like the crashes during the races?
