Technically we're still a week and a half away from finding out who will be the Super Bowl MVP, but I've got a name to throw in the ring. Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo. He is the one guy who has decided he's going to use all the attention he's getting these days for something worthwhile. No, not grabbing a major endorsement deal. This one's infinitely more noble.  Ayanbadejo has figured out how to leverage his team's big moment to help forward the fight for marriage equality! The 36-year-old is already one of the NFL's two most vocal proponents of LGBT rights (one of the leading images on Google shows him bare-chested with NOH8 painted on his pectoral), and when his team took the AFC title from the New England Patriots on Sunday night, he saw his chance to do something big.

Do you ever get depressed when you're toy shopping for the kids? Between the way genders are so split and the inanity of some of the toys on the shelves out there, sometimes buying for a birthday party makes you feel like you're having your soul sucked out. So how about something new, something different and really pretty positive? I'm talking about babywearing dolls. Breastfeeding dolls! The kind of toys that an attachment parent would be proud to purchase! No, you won't find them on the shelves of your big box store. There comes a time when you're going to look at your child and realize that they amaze you. I don't mean "aww, it's amazing that I can keep them alive" amaze you. I mean one day you will realize they far exceed your wildest dreams. For Jacob Rudolph's dad, that day came when his son stood up in front of his high school and came out as a gay teenager. Jonathan Rudolph uploaded the video of his son that's now gone viral to the Internet. In it, 17-year-old Jacob stands at a high school assembly to accept an award and proudly announces that he is "an LGBT teen." Here, he says it better:

What is with parents today? We've got another case of a mom who went along to a pre-planned fight between her daughter and another child. Only this time police in Los Angeles say Amber Lee Gutierrez jumped into the fight and helped her 12-year-old daughter viciously beat another tween. They're charging the mother with assault, and her bail is set at a whopping $100,000. Some might say it's a little much for a grizzly mama protecting her cub, but is it really?

It's a new year, and we got an all new Glee. The first episode of 2013 put the girls on top with McKinley High all abuzz about a Sadie Hawkins dance. Perfect time for the New Directions to score some much-needed singing in front of a crowd time since their loss to the Warblers at sectionals ... but that's not all. With Tina Cohen Chang and the rest of the Too Young to Be Bitter Club (side note: Zizes is finally back!) busy keeping the guys of the school on edge wondering if anyone was actually going to ask them to the dance, timing was perfect for some black ops behind the scenes. Anyone else wondering how Glee was going to go on without a competition for the Glee club? Wonder no more!

It seems like now is the time when everyone is planning their big family road trip for 2013, my little family included. My husband and I have been debating whether we'll make a big drive with our daughter, not to mention where and when, and I have to admit I've been feeling nostalgic for the trips of my childhood. Nothing we've talked about even faintly resembles the way we road tripped when we were kids. And I know from road tripping! Back in the early '90s, we'd take the family minivan (not-so-affectionately called the Dustbuster because of its portable-vacuum shape) to Cape Cod every summer. I'd keep the travel log, while my little brother kept me thisclose to tearing my hair out. Giving you misty water-colored memories, isn't it? Let's take a road trip down memory lane, shall we?

If you're going to live through a robbery at your place of employment, it probably can't get better than this. A robber showed up at a Papa John's Pizza joint armed with a knife and a plan to get all the cash out of the register. But somehow he walked out without any money -- but with a stomach full of pizza and chicken wings thanks to a kind-hearted clerk. Consider this your "restoration of faith in humanity" story for the week. It's a good story -- all the better because it's completely unexpected.

Here's a blast from the past. Remember Chandra Levy? The Capitol Hill intern whose disappearance in the spring of 2001 rocked the Beltway and even temporarily ensnared a Congressman? Ingmar Guandique, a man whose name isn't exactly as well known, was eventually convicted of murdering the attractive young intern. But now both of their names are back in the headlines, and it's the worst possible news for Chandra's long-suffering parents. Guandique is supposed to be serving a 60-year prison sentence for first degree murder handed down in 2011. But the illegal alien with a rape conviction on his rap sheet could see the sentence vacated, and he could be walking free.

We've all had those wicked little thoughts of things we'd love to do to our kids but never really would. You know: donating the wild toddler to the zoo, taping that pacifier to the baby's mouth so they will stop throwing it! Well, you'd hope no one would do that, but it seems someone thought it was a good idea to tape a binky to a baby. Where it happened is almost as disturbing as what went down. Jenelle Evans' pregnancy is over. The Teen Mom hinted earlier this week that husband Courtland Rogers had taken off while she was suffering a possible miscarriage, and now it's happened. An unnamed friend confirmed to Radar that Jenelle lost the baby this morning while former fiance Gary Head -- who popped back up in Jenelle's life just this past week -- has been tweeting from her hospital bedside. It's the worst news to come out of what's been a record bad week for the Teen Mom 2 star. Her marriage is ending, and now she has to deal with the aftermath of losing a baby while the public watches.

It's a big win for fathers everywhere! Sgt. Terry Achane, the soldier dad who made headlines last year when his wife put up their daughter for adoption without telling him, has gotten his baby back! The ruling from a Utah court reverses the adoption of Teleah Achane by Jared and Kristi Frei, who were able to adopt the little girl they called Leah based only on the consent of mother Tira Bland. Bland is now Achane's ex-wife, and it turns out she had allegedly told Achane she was going to have an abortion while he was stationed at a United States Army base in South Carolina.

If there was any one specific moment during President Barack Obama's inauguration when the nation realized his daughters aren't little girls anymore, this was it. Bad news for members of the Gary Shirley fan club. It wasn't as a woman that I reacted to the news that women can now serve in front-line combat jobs. It was as the mother of a daughter. Because I could sense what was coming next: a debate over whether or not American women will have to register for the draft. As it stands, we do not. The announcement last week from Pentagon chief Leon Panetta, lifting the restrictions on women in the military, does not change the methods followed by the Selective Service. But that hasn't stopped people from calling for the change.
