Folks are shaking their heads today at a Florida Atlantic University professor who has come off like a complete loon with his theories about the Newtown shooting. It seems James Tracy doesn't think Adam Lanza massacred children and staff at the Sandy Hook Elementary School after all. The tenured associate professor of media history says it's all a hoax fabricated by the Obama administration to push through a gun control agenda. Tempted to laugh? Don't.

It's hard to believe it's been four years since President Barack Obama first took office, but there's no better evidence of the time that has passed than his daughters. Sasha and Malia entered the White House as little girls with stuffed animals. This week they were teens snapped wearing bikinis on a Hawaiian beach by a photographer who has since been asked to destroy the images. The request isn't the first that comes from a White House that considers it mission critical to protect the first daughters from a public that has been harsh to girls in their position before. And like those before it, this letter to the paparazzi who managed to capture the young Obama girls in their bikinis was just that -- a request.

It's been six months since the massacre at a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado, and with every new detail, we seem to form a new picture of alleged shooter James Holmes. Or at least, the old picture of pure evil gets hazier. Court proceedings this week have brought to light some seriously bizarre actions in the hours after his arrest. Dubbed "childish" by some, the strange games Holmes played shortly after being pulled into custody seem to support the insanity defense that's being bandied about. It could turn out that a jury will have to decide less whether Holmes is guilty and more whether they find him sympathetic.

The more time I spend on Facebook, the more I hope that parents are putting a serious amount of money into the "future therapy fund" for their kids. Just imagine how many sessions with a good shrink it would take to get over finding out that all 544 of your mom's "friends" know you still wet the bed when you were 12. At least a few, right? Parents generally mean well; we just love our kids so much we can't stop talking about them. But the sooner we realize that kids deserve a little privacy too, the less time we'll have to spend wondering whether our kids will end up hating us. So let's just strike the following topics off the "share" list, shall we?

The search for Oklahoma City mom Ebony Jackson Shelton that started when her 3-month-old son was found abandoned in the hallway of a strange apartment complex has ended, but it's not good news. The body of the missing mom has been found in St. Louis, Missouri, of all places ... in the trunk of her own car. And now for the kicker: the car had sat for days, abandoned, and no one thought to look inside. If that's not a "see something, say something," failure right there ...

The girl whose story broke our hearts on the MTV reality show has bounced back from the tragic death of her first son's daddy in a swimming accident to bring a new little guy into the world. How's this for a story that will make you want to shake someone? A woman says she was grocery shopping with her 26-year-old autistic brother when a security guard told her she needed to put her brother "on a leash" because he'd been snacking from the hot food bar. On a leash, huh? How about that security guard get down on all fours and be forced to drink water from a bowl for his bad behavior?

I think it's safe to say we are all still reeling from the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy, but already we have another school shooting to contend with. A student who cops say had a hit list full of bullies at Taft Union High School in California opened fired inside a classroom this week. One victim is in critical condition, and the 16-year-old is in police custody. It's about as good an outcome as we could want from a school shooting. Everyone is alive -- thank goodness. But the stories coming out of kids from Taft Union make me wonder if we've been coming at this whole school violence issue the wrong way.

When I tell people I met my husband at age 14, I get one of two responses. Some people think it's sweet. Others can't believe I married a guy I've known since I was a kid. I don't consider us true childhood sweethearts, but we have at least some of the advantages. The longer we're together (we passed our 12-year wedding anniversary in 2012), the more I get the lure of staying with someone you've known since diaper days for the rest of your life. By now everyone in America should know that it's legal to breastfeed in public (hey, I said should know -- I didn't say they do). But if you've ever wondered whether seeing moms nursing in public on the news all the time is actually doing anything good for women, how's this little tidbit? In a recent survey by Lansinoh, moms admitted their number one worry about breastfeeding their babies wasn't whether they'd produce enough milk or whether their bosses would be cool about setting up a pumping station. Nope; turns out moms are far more terrified of having to actually nurse their babies in public! And really, can you blame them?

According to Philly police, Kelly Jones had the .40-caliber Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun stashed where regular Janes and Jills stow the extra binky. I have to admit I hit the jackpot in the babysitter lottery when I found mine. This June we'll mark three years since she first started out as a mother's helper, and she's now more member of the family then "kid I pay to keep my kid out of my hair." There's only one problem. I think my kid loves the babysitter too much. Now, I know what you're thinking. I'm one of those mothers who just can't bear to share her kid with someone else. Sorry to disappoint you, but that's not it at all.

Many moms dream about freezing time to keep their kids young forever. But for the parents of Brooke Greenberg, the woman dubbed a 20-year-old toddler, the dream is more of a nightmare.
