Post by Jeanne Sager
So you got stuck making the turkey this Thanksgiving huh? I don't know about you, but the threat of having to make the bird always makes me think of that awful dried out carcass from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Remember how it just cracked open, and everyone stared? Don't let that be you! A juicy turkey is easier than you think. And you don't have to trust me (why would you; I'm a vegetarian!). I always turn to the pros when I'm on holiday dinner duty. Here's what the experts have to say about keeping the bird nice and moist!

How's this for a lesson in stranger danger? A man went to pick up his friend's daughter from elementary school and ended up with the wrong girl. When Art Deaner tried taking the kid back to school to straighten the whole thing out, cops placed him under arrest! The whole mess has since been straightened out, and Deaner has been cleared of any wrongdoing. But there's a lesson in the pick-up fiasco for every parent out there. Whoever you're sending to pick your kids up from school, make sure it's someone your child knows! And for goodness sake, teach them not to get in the car with a stranger. You never know what could happen ... to the stranger.

Most of the time you're just swimming along in that ol' river of life, and then blam-o, it hits you. Your child does something, and you realize they are growing up literally right in front of you. These are the moments that make me feel a little desperate, like I need to sit down and write myself a list of everything I want to teach my daughter before she grows up. Because time moves fast enough when they're little, but when they hit the teen years, it's like a freight train, I've started jotting them down already. It's a list of things she should have under her belt by the time she leaves the teen years (at the very latest). These are things she needs to know because she's a girl and things she needs to know because she's growing up in today's world.

It finally happened! Glee went full on Grease, and never has there ever been a better mash up. Well, at least not since the Rocky Horror episode (and really, it's been too long). Glease lightning was definitely the "one that we wanted" when it comes to some catchy tunes.  But Gleeks may have gotten a little more than we bargained for come story time. I guess it's appropriate that they were singing about Grease lightning, because the fans were in for some truly shocking moments!

My Diet Soda Addiction Was Ruining My Life

Do you ever look at those people in the supermarket with a cart full of soda and wonder if they're throwing a party or if they're really going to drink all of that? That used to be me. It was diet soda, but still, every week I'd pull up to the register with some 10 to 12 bottles of soda in my cart. I was a diet soda addict and caffeine addict, all in one little 5'4" body. Yes, you can be addicted to diet soda, and I'm living proof. At one point I was drinking two a day. Two liters a day, that is. I did the math once, and that's about 193 gallons of diet soda a year.

Just in time for one of the biggest traveling days of the year, there's some scary news for parents of babies. A popular infant travel bed sure to be packed in the trunks of families across America is part of a huge recall. The PeaPod and PeaPod Plus Travel Beds made by KidCo have been implicated in the death of a 5-month-old baby boy. The beds are blamed for trapping other kids and presenting a serious suffocation hazard, so it's not worth risking that trip over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house with this baby item. Want to keep your kids safe? Here's what you need to know.

Ever notice that the way you feel about a crime changes completely when you hear there was a child involved? Here, let's test this theory out. Cops at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix say a woman drove right onto the airport runway, crashing right through the gates in her car. Awful, right? She sounds like a loon? Well, let's add this to the charges. Cops say she had a small child in the backseat.

The details of the train crash in Midland, Texas just keep getting worse and worse. It was in the middle of a Veterans Day celebration when an 18-wheeler carrying a parade float was struck by the train. We already know four people are dead. But now we know their names, and their stories. And now we know that one war hero gave his life to save the woman he loved. If you need to be reminded why we celebrate Veterans Day in the first place, I present to you Army Sgt. Joshua Michael's incredible act of bravery in the last moments of his life.

There's nothing like an innovative teacher to get kids motivated. But there's innovating. Then there's telling kids that if they don't reach their goals in reading they will be subjected to humiliation as their classmates use markers to draw all over their faces. The kids were given a second option: lose out on recess. Think that sounds crazy? Just wait until you hear what the parents thought of this little teaching trick at the Cassia School District in Idaho.

Saturday Night Live can always be counted on to weigh in on the hottest topic in the news, and this week's cold opening was all about the Gen. David Petraeus scandal. But if the show was trying to bring something new to the conversation, the writers failed miserably. SNL spoofed a book reading for Petraeus' mistress Paula Broadwell and her biography of the general, All In, that was just more of the same "other woman" backlash we've been seeing for the past week. We get it, Paula Broadwell and Gen. David Petraeus did very naughty things with one another. But what's the public's real concern here?

Moms, Dads, we can talk all day about how fabulous parenthood is, but there's no escaping diaper duty. Well, unless you're Mariah Carey it seems. Hubby Nick Cannon accidentally let slip to Anderson Cooper recently that Mimi is a bit of a diva when it comes to cleaning twins Monroe's and Moroccan's bottoms. Not exactly surprising for some people, maybe. But come on! Who's the baby here?

Another fake pregnancy. Another woman accused of stealing an innocent baby. Each time these incidents crop up in the news, the details are sure to be crazy. But the reason Chicago police say T'Keyah Williams stole a friend's 1-month-old isn't typical. Sure, she allegedly faked a pregnancy. Sure, she is said to have told friends she delivered a baby. But this wasn't a woman desperate to have a child.

Looking for a new holiday to celebrate? How about No Makeup Day? Yup, it's real. Even better, it was dreamed up by a bunch of teenage girls and celebrated at their high school last week. You couldn't get me to go back to high school if you paid me a large sum of money and threw a few chocolate bars in to sweeten the pot. But something tells me I would have been pretty comfortable at New London High School. At least for a day.

Car Company Uses 5-Year-Olds in Bikinis as Models at Auto Show

Models in bikinis go with car shows like peas and carrots. But there was something a little odd about the bikini-clad girls at the Chutian Automobile Culture Festival in China recently. Those models? They were both 5 years old. And to put a whole new spin on the battle over whether it's appropriate to dress a little girl in a bikini, the event's organizers have a reason for the stunt that's almost more bizarre than setting the girls out on the floor to be ogled in the first place. Nope, they weren't trying to sexualize them (or so they say).

Remember the mom who went on strike for a week, refusing to clean anything in her house to show her dirty rotten kids what she's worth? Another mother is giving her a run for her money. The mom behind the blog Otis Sidekicks refused to make dinner for an entire week. All her kids got was oatmeal. Every night. For a week! Sounds kind of crazy, but it worked. After days of bland as anything eats, her kids had a whole new outlook on complaining about what she made for dinner.

'Teen Mom 2' Recap: Jenelle Evans Is Sounding Like Amber Portwood Only Worse

Watching Teen Mom 2 is kind of like stepping back in time. We know so much of what has happened to Jenelle Evans, Kailyn Lowry, Leah Messer Calvert, and Chelsea Houska since the episodes we're now seeing were filmed. Only now we get to see it up close and personal. And not surprisingly, some of the worst moments are even harder to take when you have to watch them unfold. Tonight we got the build-up to Jenelle's August 2011 arrest. After smoking marijuana, she failed a drug test and was presented with a situation with such obvious shades of Amber Portwood, they were hard to ignore. Especially when you consider how Jenelle reacted.

Once you finally get past the stage where you're terrified of giving your baby a bath (been there, done that, she survived!), it becomes a lot of fun. What's not to love about splashes and giggles and the intoxicating scent of baby wash? Well, maybe that a ton of the baby washes on the market are full of some truly scary chemicals. A study done a few years ago found at least two-thirds of the baby bath products tested had either one or both of two seriously toxic nasties: formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane. Both of those are considered carcinogens! So what's a concerned parent to do? Start stocking up on safe baby washes.

Thanksgiving is a holiday that seems to be all about the turkey. The little kids make turkey handprints in pre-school, and the adults debate roasting vs. deep-frying. My fellow Americans, I'm about to lay some Thanksgiving news on you that may shock you. Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday ... for vegetarians. Gotcha, didn't I? 'Tis the season for people to moan quietly about how they have that one vegetarian cousin coming to town who will throw a kink in their meal plans. But the truth is there's no better time than Thanksgiving to be a vegetarian.

News out of North Dakota could hardly get much worse today. Four members of the same family were killed on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation this past weekend, three of them young kids ages 13 and under. Even the good news -- the fact that Martha Johnson's 12-year-old grandson survived the attack -- is tinged with sadness.  This boy was there when his grandmother, as well as his older brother Benjamin Schuster and younger siblings, Julia Schuster and Luke Schuster, were gunned down by a maniac. Now he faces life knowing that he somehow made it out alive.
