Just when you thought school rules couldn't get any more bizarre, a high school in Anderson, Indiana (home of Amber Portwood!), has served up quite a wacky tale. Students found photos of their naked teacher on a school iPad. So what did administrators do? They suspended the kids for looking! Duh! I mean, um, wait a second! When did we start punishing kids for something the teacher did wrong?

Disney has confirmed that Princess Sofia, star of an upcoming TV movie with an entire TV series to follow, is officially their first Latina princess. Finally! All the little Latina girls in America will have a princess who is just like them! Well ... maybe. Disney says they're not going to bash us over the head with the fact that Sofia is Hispanic. Actually the exact word they used was "overt." Sofia will not be "overtly Latina." So what does that mean for our little girls (and princess loving boys)?

Here's one for the dog lover in you. A little boy with Down syndrome wandered away from home and was lost in the woods overnight in Alabama this week. When searchers finally found Kyle Camp, the 10-year-old was doing OK ... thanks to some puppies who had cuddled up with him to share their body heat. Darnit, I think I have something my eye. Or is someone cutting onions somewhere?

Since police in Westminster, Colorado confirmed that missing 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway was murdered, there's a question that's been hanging out in my brain. Maybe you've wondered it too. Was there a serial killer going after kids in that area? Police think they might have an answer to that in the form of an important new lead, and it's not the answer anyone wanted to hear. Local cops working with the FBI to try to solve Jessica's murder and set local families worried about their own kids at ease have released details of a crime that occurred back on Memorial Day. They think the two might be linked. Only the first crime didn't involve a kid like Jessica.

If there's one type of criminal you've gotta love, it's a stupid criminal. Take, for example, Benjamin Ashauer. Cops in Tampa, Florida say the 29-year-old had a laptop loaded down with child porn. Sick, right? But just wait until you hear how the cops nabbed him. Ashauer was sitting right out on a sidewalk with his computer, allegedly using the free Wi-Fi at a strip mall to surf child porn websites. Um, whoops?

Vegetarian confession time! I am a vegetarian, and I hate other vegetarians. OK, so hate's a strong word. But if you're the type of vegetarian who walks around pissing off all the meat-eaters in the world, I have got a few words for you. Namely: you are driving me nuts! Maybe it's because I live in a household with two omnivores (both my husband and my kid love themselves some bacon), but I've never been into preaching about my lifestyle. I just want to be able to enjoy my eats in peace, and I expect most meat-eaters are the same. So I'd like to put out a little warning to all the mouthy vegetarians who are giving the rest of us such a bad name. I've got a list of the things meat-eaters are sick of hearing out of your veggie-eating mouth.

Try to sum up childhood in just one word. Go ahead. The best I can come up with is imagination. Imagination is what turns brooms into ponies and old boxes into spaceships. Imagination is what has made an 8-year-old girl named Stella Ehrhart an Internet celebrity since news broke that she dresses up like a different historical figure every day. Take a moment to let that sink in. Every day Stella Ehrhart picks up a book called 100 Most Important Women of the 20th Century, and she chooses a woman she wants to look like for the day. After she's dressed, she goes to school like that.

A 9-year-old girl from western Pennsylvania certainly got the scare of her life at a Halloween party this weekend. The poor child was out in the yard in her costume when a male relative shot her! According to the police report, the shooter mistook the kid for a skunk.  Anyone else thinking that is one gigantic skunk? Or one abnormally small 9-year-old girl?

You've heard the saying "kids are cruel?" In a disgusting case out of Iowa, the kids picking on a 9-year-old boy were being egged on by an educator who sounds rather cruel herself. The music teacher told students to spit on little Jaxon Kindopp. His mom is furious, and who can blame her? Being spit on is degrading, plain and simple.

The 10-year-old girl who was arrested earlier this year in connection with the death of 3-month-old baby girl Brooklyn Foss Greenaway has had a birthday. But the fact that Kelli Murphy is now 11 doesn't change anything in the eyes of the law. The state of Maine continued with its plan to charge the now 11-year-old with manslaughter today. Someone has to pay for the death of an innocent baby. But is a manslaughter charge for an 11-year-old girl really the right way to do it?

I always knew I liked Lea Michele. For a star whose spotlight is growing ever brighter, she seems fairly down to the earth. And the way the Glee star has dealt with pregnancy rumors since she was seen with a supposed baby bump over the weekend confirms it. A photo of her heading into the Bellacures Nail Salon in Studio City, California went viral with claims that she was "trying to hide her stomach with her extra-large purse." So here people were poking around in Michele's private business -- and that of boyfriend Cory Monteith, I should point out. They were picking on the size of her belly, essentially calling her fat. And yet Lea had the most adorable response to being called pregnant ... maybe the cutest response to a pregnancy rumor ever!

When I heard that parents were suing a school district after their teenage son got caught having sex on a school trip, I figured I knew what was going on. These parents were upset that chaperones allowed their child to knock boots, right? Wrong! They're just mad that their kid got suspended for having sex on a school trip. In fact, Anders Hemdal and his parents are so mad that they think the Schuylkill Valley School District should fork over $75,000 in damages for all his pain and suffering. Ah yes, parenting in 2012. Ain't it disturbing?

The votes are in. Here Comes Honey Boo Boo is officially host to one of the worst TV role models for kids in 2012. At least according to the folks over at Common Sense Media. But I'm wondering who is going to knock some common sense into the voters. Their big beef with the show is Mama June Shannon, who they say is "exploiting" her family. I'm not going to disagree there, but have these people actually looked at Honey Boo Boo herself? If we're going to talk bad role models for kids, how about zeroing in on the 7-year-old whose signature look is an eye roll?

With every missing child story, there's an overwhelming fear that washes over you. But there's something particularly chilling about the search for missing baby Saavni Venna. The grandmother of the 10-month-old from King of Prussia, Pennsylvania was murdered the same morning the little girl was abducted. For cops the murder only adds to the frustrating mystery of where Saavni is and who took her. And it makes the search for this girl that much more desperate.

OK, parents, question time. Do you send your kid to school so they can learn? Have their minds broadened? Or would you be one of the parents threatening to sue your kid's school if they introduced a yoga program? If you're the latter, get thee to California! You can get in on the ground floor and join the parents who are all aflutter because their little snowflakes are being subjected to a conditioning and strengthening workout they say is really a cover for indoctrination into Eastern religion. And get this: it's not even taxpayer funded!
